fluoride tray instructions grand rapids mi dentist

Purpose of Fluoride

Fluoride is a mineral found in your bones and teeth. It can also naturally be found in water, soil, plants, rocks, and air. As far as dentistry is concerned, fluoride is used by our Grand Rapids dentists to help improve the health of teeth and keep cavities away.

Home Instructions to Follow

If you are provided with fluoride trays by our team of dentists, we ask that you follow the below instructions for the best result possible. Eating or drinking too soon after fluoride application can ruin the fluoride’s ability to seal over the teeth properly.

  1. Brush and floss your teeth.
  2. Place Prevident Fluoride in Trays (a line of gel where the teeth are located).
  3. Place trays in mouth for 5 minutes.
  4. Remove and clean trays.
  5. Do not eat or drink anything for 30 minutes.
  6. Rinse fluoride trays under cold water to remove excess (brush trays with toothbrush- if able to).
  7. Store your fluoride trays in their case, away from children and pets.
