Don’t ignore tooth pain. If you suspect you have an abscess tooth, you’ll need to call our office as soon as possible to schedule emergency dental care. Once a cavity is deep enough to breach the living tissue inside your tooth, you’ll need to schedule a root canal. Our root canal dentists will do everything they can to save your tooth from extraction.

Root Canal Therapy Process

It’s important that you see our dentist every six months for a routine teeth cleaning and oral examination. Often, there are no signs you need root canal therapy until it’s too late.

Signs you need an emergency root canal include:

  • Severe toothache
  • Darkening of the tooth
  • Prolonged tooth sensitivity
  • Sore or swollen gums
  • Pimple on the gums

During the root canal procedure, we will numb the tooth before drilling an access hole through the top. Next, our dentist will remove infected tooth pulp using root canal files of increasing size. After your tooth has been flushed out and cleaned, we’ll seal it and place a filling over top. After root canal treatment, you’ll most likely need a dental crown to restore the tooth to its natural function and appearance.
